About us

The vocal ensemble Sundbyberg consists of both music graduates, choir leaders and experienced choir singers. The music making is characterized by the importance of breathing, good intonation, and passion. There is a desire to promote the development of newly written Swedish choral music for the church through commissions and composer collaborations, but also to strengthen the knowledge of lesser known works, preferably by Swedish composers. Much of the repertoire is a cappella. However, the ensemble has also performed the great works of church music such as Bach's oratorios, requiems by Mozart, Brahms, Fauré etc. The latest recording (2022) "Et in terra..." has been praised by reviewers with five stars out of five possible in BBC Music Magazine: "A terrific performance of Vaughan Willams's Mass strikes the ideal balance between contemplation and raw passion". Vokalensemblen Sundbyberg is part of the music activities of the Church of Sweden Sundbyberg.

Want to be a part of creating world-class music?

You are under 45 years old, an experienced choral singer with good sight-reading skills who enjoys taking responsibility in your part. Soloist tasks may occur. We work in a chamber musical fashion with big ears, great focus and with the opportunity for individual voice development. Rehearsals take place in Sundbyberg Church's choir room, Rosengatan 15, on Tuesdays between 18.15 and 21.15.

In the Vocal Ensemble, community, commitment and togetherness are important elements. About every other year we go on a choir trip and have visited Estonia, Finland and Germany.

We always welcome talented choristers to audition for the Vocal Ensemble. For the spring season 2024, we are mainly looking for tenors and basses. If there are no permanent positions available, it may be possible to participate on a project basis/temporary basis. Contact our conductor to make an appointment!
