THE VOCAL ENSEMBLE

They sing with that characteristic Nordic blend and purity, with good vowel harmony…

The Vocal Ensemble Sundbyberg

The Vocal Ensemble was founded in 2008 by conductor Rikard Lindberg Karlsson, who received his master's degree in choral conducting from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. We have always aimed at performing a wide variety of choral music at a high artistic level. The choir is part of Sundbyberg's parish west of Stockholm and among its members are professional musicians as well as experienced amateurs.

Memorable performances include Bach's mass in B minor, Brahm's Ein Deutsches Requiem and Mendelssohn's Elijah but also contemporary music, including first performances, by composers such as Birgitta Flick, Emil Råberg, , Kjell Perder and Paula af Malmborg Ward. The choir has also been involved in stage productions of Orff's Carmina Burana and Martinsson's Passion of St. Luke in collaboration with director Clara Svärd.

The Vocal Ensemble has performed in Finland, Germany and Estonia and regularly collaborates with professional musicians and soloists. We want to continuously develop and challenge ourselves to create the best experience possible for our audience as well as for our members.

Our debut album was released on BIS Records in 2016 and contains choral music by Swedish composers Alice Tegnér (1892-1934) and Gustaf Nordqvist (1886-1949), with guest appearances by soprano Ida Falk Winland and Stenhammar Quartet.
